Story by Jesse Ramarui
An important part of coming to Palau for me was practicing my traditional ways such as fishing and attending those traditional practices like funerals and house parties. Experiences these practices like fishing was very important for me as a Palauan because it not only taught me a lot about my culture, but it also made me learn about fishing conservation practices that really attached me to my culture because it gave me that sense of belonging and responsibility to protect and conserve our sea resources as Palauans.
